7 up is a brand of a lemon-lime flavoured non-caffeinated soft drink. It was created by Charles Leiper Grigg who launched his St. Louis-based company The Howdy Corporation in 1920. He came up with the formula for the drink in 1929. The rights to the brand in the U.S. are held by Dr Pepper Snapple Group and by PepsiCo (or its licensees) in the rest of the world.
